GROWING TALL - Ep.1 Rebel Pastures
Переглядів 158Рік тому
For our very first episode, I had the great pleasure of talking with the founders of Rebel Pastures, Jenni and Justin Bajema. Based out of Michigan, Jenni and Justin have built a thriving, natural ecosystem of symbiotic life using the restorative pastured model of farming. They have an amazing focus on returning to traditional methods of farming that work in coordination with the land and not...

    Hello! If there are long periods of rain, for example 4-5 days, and the pasture is soaked, how do we keep the chickens from getting wet and sick while in the chicken tractor? If we don't have a dry shed built nearby, is there a solution related to the construction of the chicken tractor?

    Sounds like a great idea for the consumers! So I'm guessing the politicians shot it down because they are bought and paid for by the oligarchial funnel.

    Hi there, good job, I admire your effort. We raise chickens too and I always look for ways to improve the conditions for our animals. I've been dreaming of pastured poultry for some time now, the only thing that is still hindering me from realizing it is foxes. I have seen a bunch of the pasture boxes similar to yours and I just can't fathom, that the foxes don't get amongst the chickens from under the box, I mean they can dig very well! Are you honestly saying that not one fox or raccoon or other pest visited your boxes? I just can't believe it. Foxes roam the forests around us and everyone that has layer hens in our village gets one or more visit a year, even if the hens are in a coop all night, the foxes are just unbeatable. Anyway, good luck to you and a small tip - 8 weeks to raise chickens is a bare minimum. try at least 3 months, possibly more. The structure of the meat is then completely different - more mature, and the meat tastes even better. Maybe try just one and compare it to an 8week one and you will see the difference. Best of luck!

    seal everything in the regular food saver bags with an oxygen sensor, then put that bag on a mylar bad with n another oxygen sensor and seal it. doubles your protection which is what you want if your life depends on it. other thing to do with rice and beans is put oven on 200 and set cookie sheets of rice and bens in stove and slowly cook out any excess moisture then letting them cool before sealing them.

    I thought this was my original idea😂🤣🤣 guess not😊 The only difference in my method is after my first seal I cut the perforated piece so that only the Mylar is sealed for the second and/or third seal. Thanks for sharing this method.

    I don't want food especially flour coming anywhere near aluminum or plastic. What if I put the food in a paper bag tightly, vacuum seal in plastic bag, then Mylar bag with oxygen absorber?

    • @user-ld3ol5kr9n
      @user-ld3ol5kr9n Місяць тому

      You don't want your food coming in close contact with foil or plastic but you are going to seal the flower I'm plastic. To me that is close contact. If you buy thicker mylar the foil should be sandwiched inside the center and not come in contact with anything. To each their own I respect your preferences but am confused. How do you keep it from coming in contact with plastic if your sealing the flour in plastic?

    The majority of these regulator agencies go against the concept of federalism. Each state is supposed to be able to control commerce within their state. The bigger the govt, the smaller the citizen.

    • @woodbutcher951
      @woodbutcher951 2 місяці тому

      The piece of plastic has the channels for the air to be drawn from. The Mylar bag by itself won't allow the machine to vacuum the air out. It's clever.

      @@woodbutcher951I'm new to all this myself. Your explanation helped but I still don't fully understand how the sealing happens. Is the vacuum sealer applying heat which seals the mylar closed too? Is it melted closed? With the little plastic section, how does it know when to stop vacuuming out air and then to seal it shut? Thanks in advance if you can help explain.

    • @woodbutcher951
      @woodbutcher951 Місяць тому

      @DonnaAndCats I have to confess. I've never personally done this method, but my friends and family have. Yes, it's "melted" together. (Sealed) His machine seemed to have attempted to pull more air out each time he added another seal. Whereas, most machines have a heat-seal-only button after the vacuum seal button was used. The machines have a limit switch inside it that measures when the vacuum is so high, the air is removed and it's time to heat seal. Hope that helps. I think it's clever, but I personally just use food saver bags in 5 gallon buckets. Mylar is significantly more durable though. Good stuff!

    Democratized access to food? What's that supposed to mean, and what does Democracy even have to do with access to food? Democracy has no place in lawmaking, especially when it involves food. The U.S. is a Constitutional Republic based on Constitutional law, not Democratic law. The vote of the majority dont get to rule over the rights of the minority. Please stop using this word Democracy as if it's a good thing. Democracy is evil and dangerous.
